Ok, I know there are loads of blogs out there about bad driving, like shitedrivers.com & such, but I just have to rant for a bit.
Now I’ll start off by letting everyone reading this know that I’m not going to be popular with my views here, but I really don’t care. These are my observations & my views on my blog. If you don’t like it, just move along to the next thing in your life.
Now as some of you know Trev has started working out in Oranmore, about a 20 minute drive across town. I have to travel on 7 dual carriageways to get there & every morning I encounter at least 4 cars that make my blood boil.
There I am driving along, normally passing the slower moving traffic on the left, when up in front I see it, the car sitting there, puttering along at 30mph, IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE!!!!!
All the way up I keep thinking “I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, they’re going to move into the left hand lane any minute now. Yup, there’s a space, they’re going to pull in out of my way” But no, they don’t. I pull up behind them & wait for them to see me & pull in. I have a Ford Focus Estate, not a small car so it can’t really be missed. But no, now I’m sitting there in the passing lane, yes, that’s what it’s called, the PASSING lane, not the “sitting there at 30mph finishing off my breakfast apple” lane.
So there I am, being held back, not able to go about my journey because some idiot either doesn’t want to move or doesn’t even know I’m there. So I do the only thing I can in that situation, I break the law by passing on the inside. I hate doing this. It is illegal. But I have no choice. It’s either that or I’m going to have to sit there at 30mph for God knows how long.
But here is where I’m about to annoy people. As I am passing, on the inside lane, I look into the car beside me & what do you think I see? 99% of the time a (normally young) woman sitting there, totally oblivious to everything that’s going on around her. Not caring about anyone else who is using the road. It’s so infuriating. No wonder women drivers have a bad name. It’s so frustrating. In the past 6 weeks of bringing Trev to work I have seen countless amounts of drivers sitting in the fast lane, but only about 6 of them have been men. Honestly.
Now I don’t mean to be hard on women drivers, but I’ve seen it with my own eyes. It honestly makes me ashamed to be a woman driver. Why is it when some women, now I am saying some women, I know there are a lot of very good female drivers out there, but some women when they get behind the wheel of the car they just get tunnel vision. They don’t see anything around or behind them. It is just so infuriating.
